Chapter 556 555: Obsidian City!
Chapter 556 555: Obsidian City!
After Muku made his declarations, all the parties withdrew for the time being.
Even the humans with whom he openly showed a willingness to cooperate.
They all needed to discuss the matter in their camps before making a decision.
They needed to figure out whether to align themselves with him or not. After all, there were three options available.
First was joining hands with him, second was declaring war and third was completely ignoring him and staying out of his affairs.
Of course, the beasts only had the war route at that point. The orcs, vamps, and elves still had all routes available for the time being. Just that he said he would observe them first.
They were sure that if he allied with the humans who are their allies, then he would ally with them too.
Of course, they wouldn't beg for it. His group was mysterious and significantly strong but no one was completely afraid, just wary at most.
Hell, the vamps were even thinking about testing them. If they find his group lacking then they will definitely attack. After all, their interests were on the line.
The elves and orcs chose the wait-and-see route.
The elves were too proud to approach first while the orcs figured that the new power should be the one to make the first move. Either way, Muku's actions would dictate how things would turn out...
....
A few hours later...
A massive city made from black concrete radiating strength could be seen standing on the land Muku's group claimed.
That's right. It was Lisa who made it. In fact, it was made almost instantly.
And at the centre of it was the familiar yet unfamiliar castle. It was now a light shade of grey with gold linings. This made it contrast with the obsidian city making it pop out.
It wasn't taken out for mere decorations though. It served as the city's defence. After all, it had PR9 defense which could actually be spread out beyond its walls to cover the whole city which had a radius of around 5000 kilometres.
So yeah, it was a big city. In fact, it was bigger than a lot of countries in the old world.
Muku's group felt that they needed at least that much to call themselves a kingdom even though there was almost no one to occupy it.
They could have easily made it ten times bigger but that wasn't necessary. It was more about making a statement and launching their land reclamation mission than about something they were truly investing in.
Sure they really will be accepting anyone who comes over and meets the requirements, but that wasn't their main focus...
Inside the castle...
"Resistance Kingdom huh?" Jade asked with an unreadable expression on her face.
"Yes?" Muku replied seriously.
"Well, I guess it's better than Revengers Legion" Jade replied with an approving nod.
"It was Defenders league okay?! Don't make it worse!" Muku exploded in his own defence.
"Okay. Okay damn," Jade backed off. She wasn't feeling like going too far that time.
"Tsk. Anyway, with our presence now known and we've made a great impact. What do you think our next step should be?" Muku asked trying to steer the conversation in the right direction.
"Hmm. For now, I say we stay here and welcome the people who are surely to come. I'm sure the humans will send their diplomat soon too. It will show that we mean what we said and we're also not rash with our actions. Thereby making us seem more trustworthy. At the same time, we should contact the other races. I'm sure they are waiting for us to do so" Layla was surprisingly the first one to speak and she even had a well-thought-out HR plan too.
What surprised everyone wasn't that she had a plan but the fact that it included taking into account other people. Something she had never been good at. After all, at first she was an internalised person then she started including them after a while. But now she even knew to include the broader world? What was going on?
"What? Is the plan bad?" Layla asked confusedly as she felt that she had given it proper thought and it should work.
"No, no... Umm, when did you, you know..." Muku replied not sure how to put his words.
"When did I start considering the outside world? You do know that we practically spent over thirty years with no one but ourselves right? After so much time one thinks about things and they evolve. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has changed in some ways. It's just that I'm the first one to show it. Anyway, is the plan okay or not?" Layla replied clearly.
Which was something she also didn't do.
This time they weren't shocked. Contemplative looks appeared on their faces instead. They all thought about how she might be on to something.
They definitely had changed in some ways over the years. But since they were familiar with each other, they subconsciously chose to act the same way they always did when possible.
With that thought in mind, they started eyeing each other curiously wondering just how much the person next to them had changed psychologically despite looking the same.
Then again, did they even still look the same? After all, everyone's looks were clearly even better than before.
Unfortunately, the other girls still couldn't catch up yet Audrey, Raya, and Althea despite their looks improving to the point of surpassing old Audrey by a lot.
It seemed there was no catching up to her in this life. So they had all given up on that. After all, they were still stunning, she just happened to be a little more stunning than them and that was fine.
Raya hadn't changed too much in terms of looking like a teen. So while she was prettier, she still gave off childish vibes, so it was easy to ignore her doll-like looks.
As for Althea, she was a Monarch, so not being able to compete with her was fine. Hell, it was odd that Audrey and Raya actually could somehow. Maybe they were just special like that...
"It's a great plan. If no one disagrees or has something else to suggest, let's do that" Muku was the first one to get on board.
The others agreed as well. Which was expected. Maybe some had other ideas but they liked Layla's more. Or maybe they can say something if this one fails. Otherwise, there was no need to say anything for the time being....
....
A few days later...
As Layla said, a lot of modern-day humans made their way there.
A lot more than expected honestly.
The ancient humans were more than willing to let those who wanted to leave go. The orcs and elves were also the same. They even escorted them close to the obsidian city as it had come to be known in the last few days.
While they weren't willing to make the first move with Muku's group, they could at least show that they were open to talking through this right?
It was only the vampires who weren't as willing as the others. They only let go of those with one defect or the other. The defects ranged from being too weak or having too common blood... Yeah, such things were defects to the elitist group of bloodsuckers.
As for those who had reached R4 and above with rarer and tastier blood, they could only stay and keep on getting fed on. They hoped that they would be saved soon. But they didn't hold their breath on it. After all, they weren't owed anything.
And as modern-day humans, they understood just how their fellow modern-day humans thought. Unless they had something significant to offer, no one was willing to go out of their way for them. Just the fact that Muku's group was willing to get them a sanctuary if they could make it was already good enough.
So they could only bitterly watch the weaker ones go cursing their own strength even though it had actually made them survive up to that point...
Interestingly enough, it wasn't only humans who went to the obsidian city. Some outcast orcs, elves, and vampires joined in too.
Some of them were spies who were exposed instantly by a trip into Muku's mindscape where all their secrets were exposed.
But most were genuine refugees who just couldn't take their old homes anymore.
Initially, all the communities were close with every member being nice to each other no matter what.
But since getting out, that has been slowly changing. Those who weren't strong enough or good enough at something that helped in the war were looked down on. Whether male or female.
Completely ignoring that some just didn't have it in them to fight in wars even when pushed to the extreme.
Well, that was the case for orcs at least. Vampires have always looked down on those with weaker bloodlines and elves did the same with those who had weaker affinity to nature.
Initially, they could only take it. But now they could leave, so why not do that?
They weren't sure what would happen to them there, but they just had to go. The pressure was too much.
Fortunately for them all, everyone was welcomed with smiles as long as they weren't a spy.
And they weren't forced to do anything as long as they lived an honest life. Which made them wonder if they had died and gone to heaven.
After all, such a life was unheard of in the apocalyptic world. Yet that's exactly what Muku's group was offering for free (pfft, of course it was for belief energy, but they didn't need to know that)
No beast appeared though. Which wasn't unexpected though. The weaker ones usually had no intelligence while the stronger ones were usually cruel monsters that hated order.
As for the nice ones, they were rare and made even rarer by how they were killed by the truly violent ones.
But who knows, maybe a few like Tracy will show up... Well, hopefully without the frightening causality power attached to them...
